G20: International Year of Millets

The International Year of Millets has been declared by the United Nations for the year 2023, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of millets as a source of food security, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture. This declaration highlights the crucial role that millet can play in addressing global challenges such as food insecurity, malnutrition, and climate change. The year’s focus will be on promoting the production and consumption of millets, as well as on developing policies and programs that support the use of these crops in sustainable agriculture systems.

To understand the importance of Millets an Exclusive Food Show is being organised at the Consulate on 27th February, Monday, 6.30 pm at the Consulate in Birmingham.

It will be an informative event followed by interesting food tasting session of the various dishes made from different varieties of millets.
